About The Show
The Sound Lab is an award-winning, globally syndicated British radio programme and new-music specialist network hosted and produced by Jim Garrett.
Operating within the same international syndication circuit as retro and independent music presenters like Geoff Dorsett, Gary Jackson, and Emma Scott, the show serves as a major launchpad for fresh, alternative talent. It commands a potential reach of over 5 million listeners across the UK, US, Canada, and New Zealand.
Features
- The Music: The show acts as a curated gateway for new music. It avoids rigid genre boundaries by blending independent to mainstream tracking across indie, pop, punk, rock, and alternative electronic/dance.
- Live Sessions & Festivals: Every week features an exclusive live studio session from an emerging band. The team regularly reports from major independent music events, producing highly anticipated annual festival specials (such as the 2000 Trees Festival and Truck Festival editions).
- The Interview Archive: Garrett is known for profiling high-profile rock and indie figures alongside completely unsigned artists. Past guest interviews include acts like Cradle of Filth, Matt Goss, The Magic Gang, Callum Beattie, Hunter & The Bear, and Feeder.
