JackEL took the time out of his busy schedule to sit down to have a chat with Chas. He told us about how he got into music and his biggest influences and much more. So here is the interview for you all to read and find out more about JackEL.
This is Chas from Atlantic Radio Uk and I’m here to interview the wonderful and talented JackEL. Hello JackEL, thanks for taking the time to do this interview and to let all the Atlantic Radio Uk listeners about you and your music.
Chas - Can you tell the listeners where you’re from? JackEL - I’m originally from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and lived in New Orleans, Louisiana for seven years as well. But when I was 16 I moved to Las Vegas, and I have been living here for 2 years now.
Chas - When and how did you first become interested in music? JackEL - I’ve always been very fascinated by music and specifically creating it. When I was 7 I got my first instrument which was a guitar and I never put it down. I kept moving to different instruments learning how to play them until I could moderately well.
Chas - Does anyone in your family play music? JackEL - My mother has always been a skilled singer, and used to travel for it. My father used to be in a band in his youth, playing the guitar and singing, and did well with that.
Chas - What are your musical influences? JackEL - I listen to almost every genre, and if it has a lot of bass then I usually enjoy it. I really enjoy House music, and Jazz and music with good melodies and soul.
Chas - If you could collaborate with one artist or band who would it be and why? JackEL - I’m a huge fan of Mike Foster and his music (FOSTER THE PEOPLE). So I would definitely enjoy being in the studio with him, and seeing what we could come up with. I also would enjoy producing music for Gwen Stefani.
Chas - Where have you performed your music so far? JackEL - I was lucky enough to travel to South Korea last year for an Asian tour I was a part of. I’ve been all around Canada DJing, and am slowly but surely making my way all across America. I’m having a good time DJing in Vegas these days though.
Chas - If you could play one venue in the world where it be? JackEL - I want to live in Ibiza, Spain for 6 months and DJ on the beach there. That would amazing. Probably Pacha.
Chas - What else do you do besides play music? JackEL - Well most of my time and energy is put towards music. I am working on originals, remixes, producing other artists music, and I also have my own studio in Las Vegas, where I work as a Sound Engineer, and record/mix and master around 30 various artists. I also enjoy going to the gym every day and working out, it takes the stress away.
Chas - Who are your favourite musicians? Groups? CD's? JackEL - I really enjoy listening to Indie/ Alternative Rock these days, probably because of the palm trees and warm weather in Vegas and LA. My favourite musicians, groups literally change every day depending on my mood. They say you can be addicted to music… Well I hate to say it, but I am a junkie. I listen to music 24/7.
Chas - Do you get nervous before a performance? JackEL - It always depends really. But most of the time I get nervous. But always kill the set and make the crowd go crazy so they are having a good time.
Chas - What advice would you give to beginners who are nervous? JackEL - If you want to perform in front of sold out arenas you’re going to have to get comfortable performing in front of 200+ people. So just relax.
Chas - How often and for how long do you practice? JackEL - I try to make a song a day and usually do if not more. I also try to record an artist a day and mix and master his tracks. So Every day I practice for about 6 hours on music.
Chas - Where do you hope to be in say 5 years or more? JackEL - At the very very top of success. I plan to be higher than anyone has ever gone with music. I want to be on the cover of Magazines, winning man of the year. I also want my music to be at the top of the charts.
Chas - If listeners want to get in touch with you or want to hear more of you music how can they get in touch? JackEL -
Chas - Is there anything you would like to say to the wonderful Atlantic Radio Uk listeners? JackEL - Thank you guys for tuning in and learning a little bit about me and my craft. I really appreciate it, and hope to build your support. Thank you.
I would like to thank you JackEL for taking the time to do this interview and everyone at Atlantic Radio Uk and the listeners wish you all the best in the future and we hope to have you back on Atlantic Radio Uk.
