Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a mass street brawl between a group of men armed with metal bars and sticks.

At around 9.15pm on Monday, October 7, officers received multiple reports of a disturbance at Parklands in Ellesmere Port.

Alarmed callers said there was a fight between a large group of men - some of whom were possibly armed with weapons.

Police raced to the scene but there was no trace of the gang.

However officers did recover a number of possible weapons including a metal bar and blocks of wood and found that two cars had been damaged.

A dispersal order was put in place to prevent any further disturbances.

Inspector Ian Stead of Ellesmere Port local policing unit said: “We understand an incident of this nature will cause concern in the local community and we are committed to doing all we can to trace those involved.

“At the current time we are in the very early stages of our investigation and we are trying to establish exactly what has taken place.

“To date no victims have come forward and there have been no reports of any injuries.

“As part of our inquiries we are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, or anything else that may be relevant to our investigation, to get in touch.

“The same goes for anyone who believes they may know who the men are, or have dashcam of CCTV footage of them.

“We will continue to have increased patrols in the Parklands area and anyone with any concerns is urged to speak to an officer."

Anyone with information or footage regarding the incident should contact Ellesmere Port police on 101 quoting IML 533173.0

Or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
